17-Feb-2025:๐จ The Supreme Court has issued a show cause order against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, questioning why he should not face action for contempt of court. ๐๏ธ A bench of Justices Sharanga Subedi and Nityanand Pandey directed the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, along with the Ministry of Land Management, to submit a written response within seven days. ๐โ๏ธ
๐ The case revolves around the Giribandhu Tea Estate land dispute, in which a verdict was previously issued by the Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court. Advocate Om Prakash Aryal had filed a petition accusing PM Oli of failing to implement the verdict and instead issuing an ordinance to ease restrictions. ๐จ๐ The Supreme Court has also ordered that the original file of the Giribandhu case be kept with it.
๐ This legal battle puts Prime Minister Oli under intense scrutiny as the judiciary demands accountability. Will the government comply, or will this escalate into a full-blown constitutional showdown? ๐๏ธโ๏ธ #SupremeCourt #ContemptCase #NepalPolitics #KPSharmaOli

17-Feb-2025: The shifting tides in Nepal's political landscape have placed the Nepali Congress (NC) โ and the UML โ in a minority position within the National Assembly. This unexpected turn of events stems from a series of elections and political alliances that reshaped the balance of power. ๐
โ In the 2076 Magh 9 elections, the NCP (UML & Maoists) ๐ secured a landslide victory, winning 16 out of 18 seats, while the Congress lost all its previously held 7 seats. The NCP's overall strength in the Assembly surged to 50 seats, compared to the Congress's meager 6. ๐
๐ฎ However, the political equation changed drastically in 2078 when the NCP split. The Maoists allied with the Unified Socialists and Congress, leading to a crushing defeat for the UML. The alliance dominated, leaving UML with only 1 seat. This fragmentation saw the UML drop from 24 seats to 17, while Congress rebounded to 10 seats. The Maoists secured 15, and the Unified Socialists took 8. ๐ญ๐
โณ By the 2080 elections, the trend continued, with the UML suffering another setback, losing 8 more seats. The Maoists emerged as the largest party with 17 seats, followed by Congress with 16. The UML, once a dominant force, shrank to just 9 seats. The shifting alliances played a crucial role in this dramatic shift, as the Maoists leveraged coalitions to maximize their gains. ๐๐บ๐ณ
โ Despite forming the government together, the Congress-UML alliance holds only 26 seats, falling short of the 30 needed for a majority in the National Assembly. This numerical disadvantage has crippled their ability to push through ordinances and constitutional amendments, raising concerns over governance stability. ๐จ
โฐ Looking ahead to 2082 Falgun, the six-year term of 19 National Assembly members will expire, most of whom belong to UML and Maoist parties. With upcoming elections for 18 seats and a presidential nomination, the future political dynamic hinges on whether the Congress-UML alliance can hold firm. ๐๐ต๏ธ
โจ Will the Congress-UML alliance last? If they contest together, they could sweep all 18 seats and secure a two-thirds majority, but political uncertainties loom large. ๐ง
๐ฌ Opposition leader Dev Gurung has criticized the alliance, claiming that the constitutional amendment agenda is merely a strategy to maintain power. Meanwhile, Congress spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has urged patience, emphasizing the need for consensus-building among all parties. ๐ค๐
๐ก Conclusion: Nepal's National Assembly remains a battleground for shifting alliances. With the UML and Congress in a precarious position, the question remains: Will they regain control or continue to struggle against the rising power of the Maoists? ๐ต๏ธโ Stay tuned for more updates! #NepalUpdates #PowerStruggle

10-Feb-2025:๐๏ธ Sunchhahara, located in Raghuganga Rural Municipality-7 of Myagdi, remains an undiscovered paradise due to lack of infrastructure and promotion. Despite its immense religious and tourist potential, visitors struggle to reach this breathtaking site because of the absence of a proper trekking route and a suspension bridge. The river, once the first choice for rafting enthusiasts, is now at risk of losing its charm as a water tourism hub. ๐
Despite the governmentโs push for tourism activities in the "Tourism Decade" from 2025 to 2035, the Trishuli River has not received adequate attention for preservation. ๐ท Particularly in the Galchhi, Gajuri, and Benighat Rorang rural municipalities of Dhading, rampant sand extraction and illegal dumping of garbage are tarnishing the river's appeal. ๐๏ธ

๐ก Provisions for the Future:
๐ฑ Land Reforms:
Provisions for landless squatters and Dalits ensure equitable ownership opportunities. A step towards inclusivity and empowerment! ๐
๐ฃ๏ธ Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli addressed the media at Singha Durbar on Wednesday, reaffirming that there is complete unity within the ruling party regarding the recently introduced ordinance. The PM stated, "There is no disagreement anywhere in a single letter. The ordinances have come with complete consensus." ๐ค
๐ฌ PM Oli emphasized that the ordinance was crafted after careful consideration, incorporating feedback from top leaders of the Nepali Congress, bureaucrats, experts, and the concerns of entrepreneurs. "It addresses the problems of the people and furthers good governance and development," he added. ๐๐
The Prime Minister also dismissed the claims that the President had stopped the land ordinance, calling such explanations "unacceptable." His remarks came as part of his defense of the government's efforts to push forward with the ordinance. โ๏ธ
๐ Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor, Balen Shah, has taken a sharp jab at the recently issued land-related ordinance by the President's Office. ๐ฌ On his Facebook post, Mayor Shah sarcastically commented, "Now, an ordinance has been passed to give not only the river but also Tundikhel and the open platform to its workers." ๐ญ
๐ The ordinance, titled "Ordinance-2081," was issued by President Ram Chandra Poudel upon the recommendation of the Council of Ministers. It amends several Nepal Acts, including the Land Act 2021, Forest Act 2076, and Land Revenue Act 2076. ๐ณ๐ก
๐ In a tone of irony, Shah congratulated the workers, stating, "Congratulations to the workers in the government." ๐ฅ His remarks have ignited discussions across social media platforms about the implications of this ordinance. ๐ฑ
๐ก According to sources from the Prime Minister's Office, the ordinance aims to provide land to landless individuals living on government and public land. The amendments are designed to expedite recommendations made by the Land Commission, prioritizing title deeds for these residents. ๐๏ธ
๐จ Critics argue that this move could lead to the misuse of public spaces like Tundikhel and Khulamanch, while proponents claim it addresses a longstanding issue of landlessness in Nepal. ๐
